I began reading at age 3. Never a day has gone by without reading in the almost seventy years since. But one book keeps on nagging me to re-read and then read all over again. It is annoying in its persistence, as if it had its own soul and spirit and had somehow infused itself into mine. It is called a course in miracles. So why is it important to me and perhaps equally important to you reader?
Often mistaken as a book about creating supernatural events we call miracles it will not show you how to levitate like saints of old. It considers the body to be of no significance so why would it do that? It has nothing to do with positive thinking or manifesting your dreams because it teaches us that you are already embedded in a waking dream. Just like in the Matrix movie. Few suspect that reality as we know it is little more than an apparition. Yet I sense that more people than ever before might be starting over with that kind of doubt.
It is so radical in its propositions that you might initially think its author insane. It tells us the we are not who we think we are at all. Over hundreds of pages it continues to deepen the central idea from multiple angles: you are a much loved and treasured son of God. Because of that you can do whatever your ‘father’ can. That means you can create with all the power and glory of your father to back you up. Really? Yes.
It reiterates again and again that the chief reason you do not know this is because of a belief you have in separation. The father and son may be one, but we are not. We are deeply divided and separated from everything else. The belief in separation is so deeply rooted in our minds that any idea of oneness threatens us. We might get lost in that oneness. What would become of us? Better to continue to suffer as individuals. But what if you are not a body? What if you are a spirit? What if your identity as a spirit is a completely different kind of identity, not like the ego at all? What if time and space were the constructs you use to maintain that separation in your very powerful mind? What if you made all this up?
This book explains everything you need to know about waking up from the dream. Step by step it leads the reader back to the reality which has never changed and never will. Though translated into 27 languages and commented upon by hundreds of authors over half a century most readers give up quickly. The reason? It does not make you feel good. In effect it is akin to having a train smash through your false beliefs about everything. The real miracle is that it has never gone out of print though only a tiny fraction of humanity reads it. It corrects our false perception of the ‘world’ and clearly shows us how to regain rock solid knowledge about reality. Which is..God.
